Karl takes numerous trips to Florida and one of his favorite pastimes is walking the beach and collecting shells—really great shells, too, I might add! He asked me to create for him a Thommie Square that incorporated his findings. I wanted to design something that was both modern and “washed ashore,” so, with his blessing for carte blanche creation, I present to you “That Which Surfaces.”
