Opening Reception for Thom J. Ertl Designs
I’ve wanted to have a show at Art*Bar since the genesis of Thom J. Ertl Designs. And my wish to do that happened on February 12, 2016. Happy birthday Abe, congratulations Thom J. Ertl Design!
For anyone not familiar with Art*Bar, it is indeed both an art venue and a bar. Art at the Art*Bar comes in many forms for the senses. Owner Don Krause does a great job mixing things up and keeping things lively, with a great eclectic mix of musical acts on a weekly basis and art on the walls a month at a time. It all fits perfectly into the funky diversity of our great Riverwest area.
I stumbled upon some photos as I was pulling together the components of this website. I kind of forgot I had them! Once upon a time I collaborated on an ensemble with my friend Allyson Bahr for the “From Junk to Funk” art show in 2008 at Art*Bar. It was a fun experience (albeit hot, being in the summer and that I was essentially wearing non-breathable materials, not to mention the painful codpiece!), but a blatant bellwether to where my art was, and has continued to, evolve.
Thank you Don and Art*Bar for the experience! Thank you to anyone who attended the opening reception on February 12. And if you were unable to attend, please try to view the show if you can, as it will be up until March 10.
